Clay art is typically divided into three types, ceramics, porcelain and alfareria. Most commonly they are grouped into two categories, ceramics and clay.  Mexican artisans have been transforming the raw material of the earth into pots, plates, everyday utensils and even toys and religious icons for generations. Mexican artisans use most all their senses in the creation of clay art. We have included in our collection the Amate pottery creations of Juan Rodriguez.  Originally the painting style called Amate, used tree bark as the canvas. Artisans have evolved to use other mediums including terra cotta pottery.  Scenes depict everyday life, ceremonies or special events.
